Writing Prompts

If you’re stuck for ideas, here’s a few places that offer prompts to get you started. Don’t forget to link back to the prompt if you’re doing them through a blog so others can try them also.

The Daily Post – The Daily Posts does all sorts of cool articles and features. They highlight blogs to inspire other bloggers, they offer tips and tricks and advice about blogging, and they try to encourage bloggers to blog consistently. One thing they do to do encourage consistent blogging is offer daily prompts. They also do weekly challenges, both in photography and writing.

Robert Lee Brewer’s Poetic Asides Blog – Poetry prompts. Are you passionate about writing poetry? Check out Robert Lee Brewer’s blog, Poetic Asides. You’ll find poetry prompts, solid tips on writing poetry, interviews with poets, and blog posts highlighting poetic forms like chant, haibun or nonet poems, rispetto, and prose poetry.

Kellie Elmore – Kellie is a wonderful poet who offers writing prompts on Free Write Friday  (#FWF).

The Queen Creative  (via Rarasaur) – Rarasaur’s blog is just fantastic. It’s also where Prompts for the Promptless started, but it’s moved over to her new website The Queen Creative.
