Belief: A Short Note

Wow, that was a longer blogging absence than I intended! I’m really sorry about that. Maybe you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to and if you have, well then, allow me to oblige. Since my last post on March sixth: I turned twenty-four, I wrote almost nothing but poetry for a whole month, I’ve added more words to my WiPs and I’ve read a bunch of great books. The main reason for my time away was that I hit a blogging slump. I couldn’t think of anything to write about and focusing on getting my drafts completed seemed really urgent, so I needed to take some time and let my mind wander a little. I hope you all aren’t too upset with me for that.

The first thing I noticed about coming back to blogging was some of the changes that WordPress has made. Have you seen The Daily Post lately? Their prompt for yesterday (since right now it’s after midnight) was:

In Reason to Believe, Bruce Springsteen sings, “At the end of every hard-earned day / people find some reason to believe.” What’s your reason to believe?

And it lead me to ponder all the ways I’ve renewed my belief in myself since the last time I’ve written here. I didn’t just wake up one day with more confidence and feelings of hope. I do admit, when I have days like that they’re absolutely wonderful but no, lately my reasons to believe stem from reaffirmations from the people in my life and a handful of perfect moments.

Have you ever had a wish granted? Or had somebody say something to you at the exact moment that you needed to hear it? This happens to me often and while there have been some tough spots in these last few months, life has given me just as many reasons to smile, and I’m grateful.
